What is So Special About Las Vegas' Mystere Show? ~ Travel and Leisure

Cirque du Soleil's Mystere show is one of my all time favorites. It is like being awake during one of your most bizarre and wonderful dreams.

This Las Vegas show begins with some classic entertainment. Two clowns come out and play tricks on the audience and on each other. It starts the show off on a very light hearted note and helps to kill the time while the audience is being seated. One side note though. If either of these jokesters tries to direct you to your seat, hold on to tickets or remember where you are actually seated for they will take you on a wild goose chase.

Then the show begins and the real magic starts to happen. There are acrobats and bicyclists and music so beautiful and haunting that you will be absolutely mesmerized. At all times there is something to see, no matter which direction you look. You will see athletic skill unlike anything you have ever experienced and the sets and costumes are breath-takingly beautiful.

And the whole thing does seem like some surreal dream or like you have just stepped into the mind of Salvadore Dali. There are graceful ballerinas and gigantic Snails, dashing heroes and total buffoons. Half the time you will be mesmerized and the other half you will be laughing yourself silly, as the clowns distract you from the ever changing scene changes that happen right in front of your eyes.

If you have never seen a Cirque du Soleil show before then make this one your first. And if you have seen the others, this one is still worth going to. It is not the aquatic splendor of O or the Beatlemania of Love but instead seems to be the perfect cameo of what a Cirque show should be. I love this show because, although it is still a big production, it has a wonderful sense of intimacy to it. It is like you are being privy to a private show or an intimate glimpse into a magical world.

Out of all of the Cirque shows, this one would be the most appropriate if you are bringing your children, as well. The mystical quality is one that will enchant them and yet it is definitely not a "kids show." The performances are all top quality and the experience is one that can definitely be appreciated by all ages.
