Cincinnati, home to major sports teams like the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals, is a city situated in the north of Ohio River at the Ohio Kentucky border. It is often referred to as the very first pure American city due to its lesser outside influences namely Germans and Italians who have helped create a city notable for its great history, economy and architecture.
Historically, the city has played significant roles over time. It has been a major source for supplies and troops for the Union Army during the American Civil War and it has been used as a headquarters for the war. It also served as a border town between Kentucky which allowed slavery and Ohio which did not. Because of these, the city will always be remembered as one of the great contributors in the country's history.
Economically, the city has been dubbed as "Queen City" since the 1800's due to its rapid economic development then making it possible for the construction of railroads and car lanes. Major manufacturers have also found a home in the area particularly Proctor and Gamble, soap manufacturer, who have started marketing Ivory Soap later that same year. Currently, the city is spawning with more manufacturing companies; nine of which are Fortune 500 companies. Some of these companies include Toyota, Macy's, Chiquita, Omnicare and several others.
Lastly, Cincinnati has been a home to numerous structures dating back in its early years. The more popular of which are those made by the Italians still standing within the city. Some of these structures include the Carew Tower, the Scripps Center, and the Ingalls Building. Other equally well-known buildings are the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal and the Isaac M. Wise Temple to mention a few examples within the area. More are expected to come starting with its Queen City Square which is expected to open sometime next year.
Cincinnati," the Queen City", is indeed a notable place to visit. Travelers can enjoy learning about its history while enjoying the delights of its present developed economy. They can visit museums, parks, old Italian architectural buildings or shop in stores owned by a range of companies while staying in the city's apartments. It is the place to visit for a taste of the past as you live through the present.
